Whatever the medium used, Jocelyn Leigh’s work references the science and mathematics of our landscape and world. In textiles, she explores the diatoms of plankton, in pen she uses patterns to fill spaces, in print she uses found objects in nature to print with. Her more figurative work is in complete contrast and does not show the same exploration of details but rather an impressionistic and emotional response to the subject. Currently she is exploring the medium of fabric scrolls, firstly to archive her own textile work but is now moving onto use scrolls as a means of displaying data. Her major work is still in construction – an exploration of the changes over time in soils gathered from memorable places where she played as a child.
