Danuta Solowiej is a Polish born artist. Her art education started with tapestry and painting at the Fine Arts Lyceum and was followed by a Masters in Sculpture at the Fine Arts Academy in Warsaw. She came to the UK on the eve of 1988 and settled in south London, where she still lives. In 2017 she received the Freedom of the City. She works in several media with modelling and polychromy being at the heart of her practice. In pursuit of pure form her work is devoid of superfluous details and narration is minimal. Her work is represented in numerous national and private collections, including Southwark Archives, the V&A and the British Museum.
