Kusam Bedi

Kusam is currently working on collages, but has in interest in a range of media.

She works in the UK, but has recently been living in Cyprus for part of the year.

Drawing on physical resources available to her in Paphos from 2019, directly recycles images that have been seen, used and discarded. The focus is on the nature of recycling printed work, to give new meaning, as well as being a medium in itself in a way which focuses on composition, sometimes witty juxtaposition and another way of seeing and interpreting images.

​She started with a collection of old animal encyclopaedias, which lead to re-imagining sea creatures and animals, as if of mythical beasts from under the Mediterranean. As more resources were collected from charity shops and friends who donated old magazines, and photographs, the work expanded.

She also works on the challenges the group sets, and enjoys the weekly focussed workshops. She has been learning a variety of crafts and arts, including pottery and mosaic making.
