I have been a ‘maker’ all my life, and have always sought some form of creative outlet. Working in clay has been something I’ve returned to again and again over the years, and now spend a lot of my time working with it. Along the way I also worked in video production for 30 years and enjoyed photography, paint in oils and acrylics and have used any number of other media.
A rural childhood kindled my love of natural forms and sense of placement in and interaction with the landscape, and I take this a cue for most of my work. I strive for a sense of simplicity of form, celebrating a relatively muted palette in both my ceramic work and my painting. People tell my they find my ceramics calming, which makes me happy, and also laugh, because mainly, I enjoy the visceral nature of clay and paint, and love making a great big mess!
